Link your blog to your LinkedIn Profile

Is your blog connected to your LinkedIn Profile?

Several weeks ago I visited the LinkedIn profile of a new contact. I was delighted to see that somehow she had linked her WordPress blog into her profile and I quickly set out to figure out how to do the same.

When you are logged into your account on the left sidebar you will see “Applications”. Click on this link and you will be shown the various applications you can install onto your profile. There are two different applications for pulling in your Blog.

  1. The first is strictly for WordPress – this is the one I installed. It’s very self-explanatory.
  2. The second is BlogLink and according to their detail page it supports all blogging platforms. Since I use the WordPress one I have no idea how easy the install is of this particular one.

In either case both services will automatically update your profile with your latest blog posts.

A very easy way to automatically share your posts with new, old and potential new connections.

If you use BlogLink will you let me know how easy it is to implement?

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for this post. Exactly what I needed. I’ve been intending to get an account with LinkedIn and when I do I can link my blog to my profile right away.

One thing that I’m wondering about is the RSS feed. In the video the feedburner rss feed is used.

Will it work with the regular non-feedburner feed?

I read somewhere that the simple rss is generally better to use.

If you won’t answer for whatever reason I’ll try the simple feed first and see if it works.

If it does, I’ll let you know.

Vance – sorry for the late response. I’ve had a busy week (can you tell – no blog posts from me since Tuesday) LOL.

I’m not sure on the RSS feed for LI but I would imagine that the regular non-feedburner would also work. LI has two different applications you can use – one is specifically WordPress and the other is “everything else”.

Let me know what you find out!

Hi Michelle,

No problem, I totally understand. It’s not always possible to reply to comments right away.

I’ll be going away for a few days so I won’t be able to answer comments as usual either.

When I find out about the rss I’ll definitely let you know.

Hi Michelle,

It turns out that I didn’t find out much about the RSS feed because when I put in just my URL the application found whatever RSS feed it wanted.

I didn’t have the chance (as the man on your video) to input the RSS feed I wanted.

I suspect though that it picked up the Feedburner one.

Vance – hey buddy – I so need to get by your blog. I’ve been trying to refine many of my processes so I set up some type of regular schedule for many “personal” and business related things. Glad to hear you got your RSS feed thing figured out!
