I actually use Tweetdeck and I find it makes thanking people so much easier and I can thank multiple people all with one tweet, and each person is added with a click of the mouse.

CJ:

I've never tried HootSuite - was never a fan of how their shortened tweets show how many days ago. But I have heard good things about it from many, including you.

I did manage to get TweetDeck to reinstall with the help of my friend, @TommyTRC. Apparently there was an install file that was hung up in the system. Once he deleted that out it re-installed lickety split. :-)

I use a bunch of different programs and do use the web interface for Twitter about 60% of the time (because of specifically going to a person's page to see what is there that I can RT).

I never knew there was a RT problem with twitter, though since I have been tweeting I don't think I've ever used twitter.com to tweet.

I highly recommend HootSuite. It's a web based application and sounds (from what I've read) a lot like what Gail has recommended to. I think in this day and age there are a lot of apps out there doing a lot of the same thing. I just posted why I like HootSuite if you want to see some of the features I like.

As for tweetdeck not reinstalling, more than likely (cause I had that issue to - way back when) it's a permission setting on your computer. If you are not a super user than Adobe Air won't install. If you are logged in as a super user, double check the security settings on all the folders from the top down to the install folder. If even 1 of those folder/subfolders don't have the correct permission settings it will fail thhe Adobe Air install.

Look forward to following you in the future.

Gail - I am totally going to check out your DoFollow Tools and Lists that you linked to. I don't think I've seen what Kikolani though I've been to her site and she recently had my post on 20 WordPress Plugins I would die without as part of her Friday Mashup.

I'm sure we're going to be running across each other regularly from now on. Have you seen my <a href="http://GrowMap.com/dofollow/"> DoFollow Tools and Lists</a>? If you haven't seen what Kikolani offers about dofollow you'll see descriptions and links there.

I have a great tip about managing Twitter for those who are hitting the follower limits. First use the Social Too unfollow option to free up room and then use TweepML lists to follow others in your niche. Then don't use the unfollow option until any you recently followed have time to reciprocate.

Gail - like you I am starting to spend more time on blogs that are DoFollow as well as use KeyWord Luv and CommentLuv.

I am so going to have to check out TweepML - I had not heard of that and it sounds really cool.

I so appreciate the time you took to comment here! I will def be back by your blog and I've put it on my list of extra special ones to pay attention to! (yes, I had to start a special spreadsheet just for that!)

Thank you for letting us know that we won't see those RTs. I was not aware of that. An easy way to find anything that includes your Twitter username is to search for it without the @ symbol. I keep that saved so I can quickly see who is talking to me.

There is another really big reason why Twitter's RT function is not a good way to retweet and that is that it often truncates (cuts off) Twitter IDs and shared urls so the links are no good any more.

The RT function in the free <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12647">MrTweet Firefox addon</a> is much better. I temporarily disabled it because of FireFox issues but I really like other features it has.

I also recommend <a href="http://cotweet.com/">CoTweet</a> as an online way to more effectively manage Twitter accounts including multiple Twitter accounts. It makes it easy to update Twitter accounts when you are not signed in or send a Tweet to multiple accounts.

It is also a much faster way to manage DMs which many of us who have large followings at Twitter pretty much ignore unless you send us an @ message first letting us know to expect something there. The DM spam is overwhelming.

I also recommend using <a href="http://socialtoo.com/">Social Too</a> as a fast way to unfollow inactive accounts when you hit the Twitter follower limits and get that message that you can not follow any more people.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a mini-post but all of these tools save me so much time I wanted to share them with you and your readers.

OH! I almost forget the greatest time saving Twitter app ever: <a href="http://tweepml.org/">TweepML</a>. You can instantly follow any Twitter lists, build and share lists others can quickly follow, and search for and find lists of Twitter users by subject. Just uncheck any you don't want to follow and click to follow the rest.

Speaking of lists, this blog is on my dofollow and keywordluv lists. That makes it faster for me to zero in on keeping in touch with the Tweets of just those bloggers on the list. Anyone can follow my lists there and do the same.

Anyone reading this who has a dofollow blog and/or a keywordluv enabled blog can send a Tweet to @GrowMap to get added. Those blogs get more of my time and attention and get shared across Social Media sites far more often.
